In the early sixties, their telephone system was atrocious
(you had to go into a post office and give the number to an operator who would connect you)
But they modernised and their Minitel was a success long before the internet became widespread.
Then they had their mini revolution in 1968.
Now they have the lion's share of the Ariane Rocket and they have the TGV too.
Of course life's not so cool if you are a "sans papier" but then our ethnic minorities have a hard time of it too.
